Been in KiwiSaver for 3 or More Years?
If you've been a member of a KiwiSaver scheme for more than 3 years you can access your and your employers contributions and use these towards the purchase of your first house.
You need to have:
You need to have:
- Contributed at least the minimum 3% of your income for 3 years
- Not owned a property previously
- Have a total deposit of 10% (this can include your KiwiSaver savings)
How Do I Know How Much I Can Access?
Easy. Just pick up the phone or email your KiwiSaver provider. They will be able to email you a statement that shows how much (approx) that you can withdraw as a first home buyer. You'll need this statement as part of your application anyway, so it's worth getting sooner rather than later.
How much you can access is not the same as a balance though. Make sure they send you details of what you can withdraw as a first home buyer
